We are a group of around a dozen enthusiastic graduate & undergraduate students and postdocs doing research in organic synthesis, organoboron chemistry, and medicinal chemistry. Our group is motivated, congenial, and welcomes members from all countries and origins. Our main research focus is on the chemistry of boronic acids. We make use of boronic acids and their derivatives to work on cool and useful applications like natural products synthesis, development of novel stereocontrolled reactions, catalysis, green chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology (see Research section). We are engaged in numerous local, national, and international collaborations with researchers in universities and scientists in the pharmaceutical industry. We are located in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Nous sommes situés au Department of Chemistry, University of Alberta, à Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Congratulations to Zain and Jason on receiving an Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES).

30 January 2020
It has been a hectic week with 4 defenses for Hall Group members. Congratulations to Jasmine, Hannah, and Carl for their successful MSc defense, and to Xiangyu for his PhD defense on the topic of beta-aminoalkylboronates. Dr. Xiangyu Li delivered his public departmental seminar on Jan. 30, where the secret to his great productivity was revealed: the "Power Nap".
